In the spring of 2004 Ruda declared herself ready to travel, and left Salcombe for north west France to show off at the famous classic boat festivals at Brest and Douarnenez.

Crossing the English Channel via the island of Guernsey, she explored the delightful ports of Brittany calling at Ploumanac’h and Morlaix, and was happy to be among the many old wooden fishing boats that live on that coast.
